A Fort Drum Soldier is accused of putting a baby in scalding bathwater earlier this year.

State Police say 22-year-old Nathaniel Garrison, of Watertown, subjected the 2-month-old infant to scalding hot water on January 22 in the Town of Wilna, Jefferson County.

The incident caused second-degree burns to almost half of the baby's body.

The baby was treated at Golisano Children's Hospital at Upstate University, and has since recovered from the injuries.

Garrison was charged with reckless assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Garrison was arraigned in the Village of Carthage Court and sent to the Jefferson County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
