      Four injured, two arrested after two groups of women fight in Syracuse

      A 21-year-old woman suffered a cut to her arm and an 18-year-old woman sustained a cut to her face during the fight.

      The Syracuse Police Department is investigating a large fight that happened in Syracuse at 4:40 PM on Sunday. Police say they were called to 2121 East Fayette Street and upon arriving located four women who had been cut while involved in a fight. They were transported to Upstate Hospital. Their injuries were non life threatening.

      The investigation showed that two groups of women had been involved in a fight with eachother, accoring to a press release from the Syracuse Police.

      21-year-old Wilanda Newsome of 939 Highland Street, Syracuse, was arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. She was treated at Upstate Hospital for a cut to her back that happened during the fight. When she was released from the hospital, she was sent to the justice center. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Syracuse City Criminal Court on Monday.

      A 14-year-old female was was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. She was sent to the Hillbrook Detention Center and will appear in family court at a later date. Her name is being withheld due to her age.

      Their names are not being released at this time as the investigation is continuing, the Syracuse Police says in the release.
