Four killed in Hannibal rollover, bodies found next morning
Four males were killed in a crash in Hannibal Monday night, but their bodies weren't found until Tuesday morning.
Oswego County Sheriff's deputies confirm to CNY Central the four males were in a Dodge Intrepid that crashed on Engles Road near Rathburn Road on Tuesday night. A highway worker came upon the crash scene around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Deputies have identified the driver as 19-year-old Joey McCarthy. His cousin Nicole McCarthy said she spoke to him last night before he went out. His aunt and cousin said they didn't know where he went last night or who he was driving with. They both live up the road from where the accident happened.
The passengers were identified as 20-year-old James Stone, 23-year-old Efrain Rodriguez and 23-year-old Joshua Schute. All of the victims were from Granby.
Investigators say McCarthy was driving at a high rate of speed westbound on Engles Road when he lost control. The car became airborne before slamming into a tree and flipping onto its roof, killing all four young men.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call Investigator Matt Bray at (315) 349-3319.
