Action News has confirmed through several sources that Laura Vieira-Suarez is no longer the principal of Fowler High School. She will now be serving as a principal on special assignment at the central office.
Vieira-Suarez came under fire for alleged mishandling of school funds at Fowler High School. The Onondaga County District Attorney's Office is investigating the claims.
Syracuse City School District Superintendent Dan Lowengard tells Action News that he made the administrative change. School Board member Laurie Menkin says the change did not require board approval, but the board is comfortable with the decision.
James Palumbo will be taking over as principal at Fowler High School.
