Friends organize benefit for murder victim Brandy Dallas
On Saturday, friends of Brandy Dallas will host a benefit for her young children. Dallas and her friend Samantha Rainwater were murdered on Monday in Rainwater's Liverpool home. Police charged Dallas' husband, Justin Dallas, with both murders.
Benefit organizers David Swain and Jesse Perez say they are grateful for all the donations and checks have been coming in for the Saturday afternoon benefit at Ref's sports bar on Milton Avenue in Solvay. Swain and Perez have known Brandy Dallas since elementary school and say she was known for her kindness and willingness to help others in need.
"If it was someone in the community that she knew or even if she didn't know them, because that's the person she is, she would have gotten something together for them," said Perez.
Swain has been taking calls from businesses, friends and complete strangers who wanted to help in any way they could.
"People realize that this could be anybody. this could be your sister, your mother, your aunt - people just realize that," said Swain.
The benefit at Ref's at 1441 Milton Ave in Solvay goes from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday. Dallas' friends are also organizing a trust for her children to help provide for them in the future.
