Fright Nights at the Fair kicked off on Friday night.
The haunted event features six attractions, including a new 3D haunted hayride and clown prison.
The attractions are not recommended for children under 9, but there are some smaller attractions for younger children.
Those who were old enough to enjoy the night certainly found it frightening.
"There words: creepy, hallucinating and strange," said Owen Bates, at Fright Nights for the first time.
There are 120 local actors participating in Fright Nights at the Fair, scaring guests throughout the attractions. "It's very fun to run around scaring people," said Gianni Liberatore, a third-grade actor in one of the attractions. "I really like the clown house. It's very cool."
Fright Nights at the Fair is held rain or shine in the Beef Barn on the New York State Fairgrounds. It runs Fridays and Saturdays from 7pm-midnight and Sundays from 7pm-11pm every weekend through Oct 27.
