Frost advisories, freeze warnings in effect

A frost advisory is in effect for:

Onondaga, Madison, Oneida, Cortland, Seneca, Oswego, Chenango, Otsego, Tompkins, Schuyler, Ontario, southern Cayuga,& southern Herkimer counties from 1am to 9am Tuesday.

An frost advisory means that cold temperatures will reach the dew (frost) point and cause frost across parts or all of the counties listed above. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

If your area has a frost advisory, here is what you should do:

-- Farmers and gardeners in these areas should take precaution to extend the growing season.

A freeze warning is in effect for Jefferson, Lewis and northern Herkimer county and much of the Adirondacks from 1am to 8am Tuesday.


A freeze warning means that temperatures below 32° is highly likely for the warned area. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
