Kmart closed its doors in Fulton on Sunday, joining a long list of retailers to leave the city and leaving more than 50 people without jobs.
Kmart's departure, leaves just two tenants, Dollar Tree and the Fulton satellite campus of Cayuga Community College, in River Glen Plaza. In 2011, CCCF River Glen Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of CCC, purchased a major portion of the Plaza and transformed the vacant P & C grocery store into an 82,150 square foot, $16.1 million campus.
Since then, the subsidiary has rented to its neighboring shops in the plaza. CCC could see the now vacant facility as an opportunity to expand and once again transform an empty storefront into classrooms.
