Family and friends said goodbye to a beloved teacher from Baldwinsville.
33-year-old Jennifer Miles died Thursday when a tire flew off a boat trailer, careening across the median on I-690 in Van Buren and slamming into her windshield.
Miles' 1-year-old child and a 4-year-old she was babysitting were in the back seat at the time. They suffered minor injuries.
Miles was a 4th grade teacher at McNamara Elementary School in Baldwinsville. She is survived by her husband Gregory and their son Logan John.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, April 29 from 4-8 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home on Brewerton Road in Mattydale. The funeral will take place Wednesday, April 30 beginning with a prayer service at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Margaret's Church on Roxboro Road in Mattydale.
One of Miles' high school classmates, Cheree Hawk, came to the calling hours to pay her respects. Hawk remembered Miles as someone "very compassionate about schooling" and said her death" hit home because we're the same age."
Some came out of respect for Miles' family. "We're good friends with her mother," said Tracy Eberly. "She always fixed things for us. She's a seamstress. And we just wanted to show our support."
She will be buried in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Liverpool.
Contributions in Jennifer's memory can be made towards her son Logan's education:
