Funeral for father and sons who died on Oneida Lake

A funeral for the father and his two sons who died in a boating accident on Oneida Lake last week will be held Wednesday evening.

Calling hours for Anthony Aceto and his sons Stephen Aceto and Timothy Aceto will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Myslinski Funeral Home on French Road in Utica.

The funeral service will follow calling hours.

Anthony Aceto, 66, Stephen Aceto, 41, and Timothy Aceto, 33, died in a boating accident after their boat struck a cement channel marker. Anthony J. Aceto, 39, survived the accident with broken ribs and a cracked shoulder.

The family was spending the day boating on Oneida Lake, celebrating Stephen's upcoming engagement to his girlfriend.

Investigators say fireworks may have caused a distraction that led to the crash.

All three of the men were born and raised in Utica and graduated from Proctor High School.

Anthony Aceto was an engineer with the NYS Department of Transportation prior to retiring. He was married to his wife Jane for 43 years, and they had three sons. (Obituary)

Stephen Aceto was a senior financial analyst at the Tampa General Hospital in Florida. He graduated from both Utica College and SUNYIT and was engaged with two sons and a soon-to-be step-son. (Obituary)

Timothy Aceto owned and operated AA Home Improvement in Utica. He was married with a daughter. (Obituary)
