The American Hockey League's Board of Governors has approved the relocation of the Calgary Flames' AHL affiliate from Abbotsford, British Columbia, to Glens Falls in upstate New York.
The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that Calgary's affiliate will begin playing in the Glens Falls Civic Center next season.
The Adirondack Phantoms, the Philadelphia Flyers' AHL affiliate, played the last five seasons in Glens Falls. The Phantoms have left for their new arena in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Flames officials will be in Glens Falls next week to announce more details at a news conference.
The Flames announced last month they were discontinuing their operations in Abbotsford.
Before the Phantoms arrived in 2009, Glens Falls had been without an AHL team since the Adirondack Red Wings left in 1999 after 20 years in the city.
