Governor Andrew Cuomo wants $30 million for development around Onondaga Lake.

In his budget address, the governor did not give any more specifics except to cal it an 'ambitious and exciting project' to redevelop the area around the lake.

Onondaga County Legislative Chairman Ryan McMahon reportedly said the plan will involve a blend of public and private development along the lakeshore and nearby areas.

Onondaga County lawmakers recently poured another $1 million into the area to extend the west shore nature trail around the lake.

The hope is for the recreation trail to eventually encircle the lake for bicyclists and hikers so it becomes a tourist attraction in the coming years.
