Greek yogurt to be featured in school lunches in 12 states

The federal program adding Greek yogurt to school lunches is expanding from New York, Tennessee, Idaho, and Arizona to include eight more states.

According to United States Senator Charles Schumer, the Department of Agriculture, which has operated the pilot program, is expected to add school cafeterias in California, Iowa, Connecticut, Illinois, North Carolina, Vermont, Washington, and Mississippi.

Sen. Schumer says the contract will be put out to bid for all Greek yogurt producers to compete.

The program has been supplied by Chobani based in upstate New York.
