Group led by former Syracuse basketball star looking to bring NBA D League to Rochester

A group, led by former Syracuse star Roosevelt Bouie, is working on bringing an NBA Developmental league franchise to Rochester to begin play in 2015, according to WHAM. The group continues to work with the NBA. At the moment there is no specific NBA franchise that would be affiliated with Rochester, but that could be worked out shortly.

The NBA D League is equivilent to the AHL in hockey and the International League in baseball where the players are under contract to the major league franchise and are only one step away from the top league. Current players in the D-League include former Syracuse stars James Southerland, Fab Melo and Arinze Onawaku
