A Hall couple is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly man.
44-year-old Mark Millerd and his fiancee 48-year-old Valerie Roberts, both of 4791 RT 14A in Hall, are facing charges in the case.
The arrest stems from an ongoing investigation involving the misappropriation and unauthorized use of assets of 83-year-old Malcolm Stanbridge, who died in 2010.
State police say Millerd stole more than $50,000 from Stanbridge and Roberts stole more than $22,000 in unemployment benefits. It allegedly happened while Roberts was employed by Stanbridge and other elderly people throughout the Finger Lakes region.
Millerd is charged with grand larceny, a felony. Roberts is charged with insurance fraud, a felony. They were both arraigned in Canandaigua City Court.
Millerd was sent to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Roberts was sent to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of $3,500 cash or $7,000 bond. The defendants both posted bail and were released.
