Handgun found in woman's carry-on bag at Hancock Airport

A Groton woman was stopped by TSA officers at Hancock Airport Sunday after the x-ray machine spotted a handgun in her carry-on bag.

The Tompkins County woman claimed she had forgotten that the 9mm handgun was in her bag. Syracuse Police allowed the woman put the gun in her checked baggage, where she had already checked another gun.

The TSA reminds passengers that they are responsible for the contents of their bags, and could be subject to civil penalties if illegal or prohibited items are found.
