'Haunted by their screams'-Sierra Clark gets 15 years for rape of two girls

Sierra Clark weeps in court

Sierra Clark, the woman who admitted to holding down two little girls while her husband raped them, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday.

Clark wept in court as her sentence was read, saying she was sorry for what she did. She pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree rape, and was given 15 years for each count, which will run concurrently.

Clark was given a reduced sentence because she testified against her husband, Ronald Clark. Her defense attorney said that without Clarkâ??s testimony, it would have been difficult to convict Ronald Clark.

Ronald Clark was sentenced to 27 to 29 years in prison in February, thanks in large part to Sierra Clarkâ??s testimony.

Judge Aloi became emotional on the bench during the sentencing. "This case is disturbing for this court on so many levels, it is difficult to articulate, " he said. "In my heart of hearts, I wish I could have sentenced you and your husband to life in prison."

Assistant District Attorney Jeff Schiano had strong words for Sierra Clark. â??You, Ms. Clark, are no better (than Donald Clark). You covered their mouths so no one could hear their screams, as your husband murdered their innocence. I hope while you sit in jail, you are haunted by the screams of those girls.â??

Clark's defense attorney noted that she has an IQ of 72, and was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.

"She knows what she did was wrong and admits it," Clark's attorney said. "He (Ronald Clark) picked her because she's a little girl. He picked her because her intellect is low."
