A handful of high school students are getting a once in a lifetime opportunity this week.
The Henninger High School Jazz Band will play for President Obama when he makes an appearance at the school this Thursday, according to a notice posted on the band's Facebook page. The band will play at 3:30 p.m., in advance of the President's arrival around 4:00.
Mr. Obama is visiting Syracuse this week as part of a two-day bus tour of upstate New York and Pennsylvania. He is expected to discuss his plan to reduce the cost of college and improve the value of higher education.
A White House official says in addition to speaking at Henninger, the President will visit the University at Buffalo and SUNY Binghamton as part of his trip. There are also reports that the White House is contemplating a stop at the Harriet Tubman Home in Auburn during his travels.
The White House has yet to confirm specific details of the President's trip. CNY Central was the first to report the president's visit to Henninger last week.
