A New Jersey man is facing charges after leading troopers on a high-speed chase on I-81 north in Cortlandville.
Troopers pulled over a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Jesus M. Izquierdo on Wednesday on I-81 at about mile marker 48. As troopers approached the vehicles, Izquierdo took off, leading troopers on a chase at speeds of just over 100 mph.
Izquierdo was passing vehicles in both lanes as he tried to evade troopers.
Investigators say he pulled over at mile marker 66 in Tully, after a 14 minute chase.
Investigators say Izquierdo was driving while impaired by drugs. Officers searched his vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana and three and a half oxycodone pills.
Izquierdo was arrested and charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer, criminal possession of a controlled substance, DWAI drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, reckless driving and several other vehicle and traffic violations.
Izquierdo was arraigned and sent to the Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
