Holland Patent schools temporarily locked down after stranger on elementary school grounds
Tue, 07 May 2013 16:25:05 GMT — Schools in Holland Patent were on lockdown for about two hours Tuesday after a man entered elementary school grounds with an unusual request.
Superintendent Kathleen Davis tells CNY Central that a man entered playground area at General William Floyd Elementary School in Stittville.
Davis says he was â??persistentâ?? and wanted to take pictures of a female teacher and become Facebook friends with her.
The man left the area in a vehicle and they were able to get a license plate number.
The lockdown started around 11:00 a.m. and lasted about two hours. Davis says a message was sent to parents by their "Global Connect" emergency phone message system.
According to the school district's website, the lockdown has been lifted.
The investigation is ongoing.
