Honeywellâ??s Summer Science Week at the MOST kicks off with Onondaga Lake cruise

Future scientists got a close-up look at the Onondaga Lake cleanup efforts Monday morning.

More than 70 middle school students from across Central New York set off on a cruise to learn about the science behind the lake's environment.

It was part of a weeklong program called Honeywell Summer Science Week at the MOST, which is sponsored by Honeywell, the company responsible for the lake cleanup efforts.

The program gives kids hands on experience as they tour the many waterways which feed into the lake, including Onondaga Creek.

Other activities include water quality testing in Camillus, environmental sampling at Heiberg Memorial Forest, water quality testing at Tully Mud Boils and Bear Mountain Slide, lunch on the SUNY ESF quad, and a nature hike at Clark Reservation.
