Syracuse Police Friday evening announced the arrest of a man for a bank robbery. Last Friday, April 25, police say Michael Torterello, 50, of 409 Wendell Terrace in Syracuse walked into the First Niagara Bank in Shop City and demanded cash. Police say Torterello was identified through tips from the public after surveillance photos were released to the local media.
Torterello is charged with robbery in the third degree. Investigators say Torterello has a "very lengthy arrest record" including three prior robbery charges and two prior burglary charges.
