Hundreds of National Grid customers are without power on the north side of Syracuse on this hot and humid afternoon.
According to National Grid spokesperson Virginia Limmiatis, approximately 500 customers in Lyncourt, Sedgwick, and nearby neighborhoods lost power at approximately 1:12 p.m. Monday. That is down from the 3,000 first reported on the company's outage website, but Limmiatis explains that website lists all customers in the area, not just those without power.
Limmiatis says the outage is expected to be repaired around 3:00 p.m. It was caused by a burned out connector in the Shop City area.
CNY Central Meteorologist Peter Hall tweeted that the temperature reached 89 degrees at 2:00 p.m., with a dewpoint of 71 and a heat index of 95.
