Hundreds show their support for Jody Garofalo

Jody Garofalo was overwhelmed today at her benefit.

ix months ago Jody Garofalo was hit by a drunk driver while crossing the street in Syracuse, just days before Christmas. Her chance for survival was slim.

Noreen VanAuken remembers what her "I don't think it hit me until I got to the hospital and realized how bad she really was -- they only gave her a 2 percent chance. It was really tough. I kind of gave up a little bit, because I didn't think she would make it," says VanAuken.

Jody defied those odds and is recovering from 25 separate surgeries. Today, family and friends have come out to help Jody cover the cost of medical bills, doing what they can to make things a little bit easier here at Jake's in Brewerton.

This support has brought Jody to tears as the emotional, physical and now financial help she has received all peaked today at Jake's.

"I can't even describe it, it's overwhelming, it's humbling. It just really gets to me, very overwhelming," says Garofalo. "I didn't think it was going to be this big. There's people here that I don't even know who have come out to support me."
