Identity of man killed in second Rome shooting released

While the investigation continues into the deadly shooting, Police in Rome have released the name of the man killed in a shooting on Stevens Street last Thursday.

When police responded to a call of shots fired, they found 32-year-old Jason Oates unresponsive lying in the road with a gun shot wound.

Rescue units performed medical treatment on the victim but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Oates also went by the alias "Clutch " or Klutch." He was from Madison, Alabama, but lived in the Rome area the past few years. He continued to travel back to Alabama while living in Upstate New York.

No arrests have been made yet in this case. The suspect is described as wearing a dark colored hooded jacket and was seen running west towards North Madison Street after the shooting.
