Increased security in NYC after Boston explosions

New York City police are stepping up security at hotels and other prominent locations following explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Chief NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said critical response teams are deployed around the city until more about the explosion is learned. The teams are highly visible patrol units that travel with lights and sirens.

The blasts occurred at the finish line of the marathon Monday afternoon.

The NYPD often steps up security in the city as a precaution based on incidents in other locations.
