Infant dies from injuries caused by mother, according to police

Family and friends have left keepsakes in memory of Nataliah Trumble.

Syracuse Police are investigating a homicide that happened Friday at 477 James Street.

Officers were called to Upstate Hospital and found the victim, five-month-old Nataliah Trumble, had serious head injuries and was in critical condition.

The investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Wanda Trumble, the infantâ??s mother. Trumble was arrested for reckless assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

Trumble was arraigned in Syracuse City Court Sunday morning. No bail has been set, and police didn't know if she has a lawyer yet.

Nataliah Trumble was brought to Upstate University Hospital by her father Friday evening. The baby died Saturday.

Officials say a grand jury will review the case and consider more serious charges.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse Police Criminal Investigations Division at 315-442-5222.
