The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a newborn baby.
According to police, the male infant was brought to the Rome Memorial Hospital Emergency Room early Thursday morning by his mother, where he was pronounced dead.
The hospital notified police, who opened up an investigation into the cause of death. Investigators will not say if there were any injuries to the baby, or whether the death is suspicious. An autopsy was conducted by the Onondaga Medical examiner's office. The results of the autopsy are pending.
