Infant dies in Utica house fire

A five-month-old infant has died after a house fire on Dudley Avenue in Utica on Sunday morning.

Utica Fire Chief Russell Brooks told WKTV crews were called to the scene just before 11 a.m.

Firefighters found heavy fire and smoke on the home's second floor, with victims reportedly trapped inside.

Officials say the infant was pronounced dead at the scene. The infant's parents and four siblings all escaped without injury.

The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office is now working to determine the exact cause of death.

Fire crews got the fire under control around 11:45 a.m.
