Department of Transportation officials confirm that the Interstate 81 Northbound has re-opened early. The bridge deck repairs were scheduled to be finished Monday.
The highway has been closed since work began on August 9.
Everyday, an average of 82,000 vehicles travel on Route 81 through Syracuse.
The state is spending $17.4 million the decks on 13 bridges in Cayuga, Oneida and Onondaga counties as part of Governor Andrew Cuomoâ??s NY Works program.
