Ithaca man crashes vehicle with 8-year-old in tow, accused of driving drunk under Leandra's Law
A Tompkins County man is accused of driving drunk under Leandra's law, found with marijuana after crashing his car with an 8-year-old child as a passenger.
State Police say 35-year old Kevin Smith of Ithaca was driving on Route 13 Friday, in Newfield when his vehicle went off the road and rolled over, causing property damage.
Troopers found a small amount of marijuana inside the car.
Smith was arrested under Leandra's Law, as he had a child under 16 years old with him at the time of the crash. He was arraigned in the Town of Newfield Court, released on his own recognizance, but is due back in court Wednesday to answer to drug, child endangerment and aggravated DWI charges.
