A man is arrested in Ithaca on burglary charges.
It happened Thursday night around 8 o'clock when Ithaca Police responded to a burglary in progress call on E. Seneca Street.
The witnesses gave police a good description of the suspect and where he was going, and the suspect was quickly caught.
He was positively identified by the witnesses as the man who broke into their residence.
The suspect is Brian J. O'Connor, and allegedly damaged property at the location, removed a fire extinguisher from the wall mount and attempted to exit through a fire escape.
He was confronted by several residents, then re-entered the house through a window and ran out the front door.
He's charged with Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglar Tools and Burglary in the 2nd Degree.
He was arraigned by the Honorable Judge Miller and released on an appearance ticket.
