Jefferson County man dies in farm accident

A Jefferson County man died on Tuesday after a feed mixer trailer tipped and pinned him to the ground.

New York State troopers say 25 year-old Jesse Chase of Evans Mills was attempting to check the tire pressure on the feed mixer trailer loaded with animal feed. Troopers say Chase was under the rear of the trailer when it tipped to the rear, pinning him to the ground.

A passerby saw Chase and tried to help. Troopers responded to the scene in the Town of LeRay around 1:15 p.m. Chase was transported to SMC Hospital by ambulance and later died from his injuries. The cause of death will be determined following examination by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner.
