New York State Fair Director Dan O'Hara is expecting a recording breaking crowd at Chevrolet Court on Wednesday evening for country stars Lady Antebellum. O'Hara expects what could be a record breaking crowd for the free concert area of some 20,000 fans. That number combined with the 17,000 expected for the rescheduled Justin Bieber show will make Wednesday an extraordinary mid-week attendance day for the Fair.
O'Hara said today he was pleased to be able to reschedule Justin Bieber's show after the 16 year old star came down with a sore throat and was ordered by doctors to delay his Sunday night performance in Central New York. It was critical to be able to rebook Bieber during the run of the fair. If he had not been able to return to Syracuse until later in the fall it would have been too costly for the Fair to reassemble the grandstand stage or to change the venue.
Added security measures are being put into place to handle the flow of people and the crowds at the Fair late in the day on Wednesday.
Here are two examples to gauge the demand for the free Lady Antebellum concert in Syracuse Wednesday. Lady Antebellum tickets at the Great Allentown Fair in Allentown, PA on Thursday September 2nd are selling for $35. Friday in Portsmouth, VA tickets are selling for $39.75 for a Saratoga like outdoor music venue. Lawn seats only remain.
