Lake effect snowshowers are becoming somewhat more organized late this afternoon and early evening across CNY. Although accumulations will generally be more nuisance-type than significant, driving could still be tricky with icy spots as air temperatures are hovering around 30 degrees.
This time of year finds the greatest actual snow accumulations over highest elevations and on colder surfaces from tree branches to decks and hoods of cars. Generally we see more melting, at least initially on black top and most road surfaces, but road surfaces could still have icy spots. New accumulations of snow by morning for most locations across central NY should be a coating to an inch or two with isolated 3 inch amounts.
Lake effect snowshowers will slowly weaken later tonight and Wednesday.
