Lewis County man dies in agricultural accident at dairy farm
LOWVILLE, N.Y. —
New York State Police are investigating a fatal agricultural/industrial accident that happened over the weekend in Lewis County.
An investigation found that Ryan C. Ouellette, 32, of Lowville, was tending to a large integrity manure separator around 8 a.m. Sunday at the Marks Dairy Farm in Lowville when his head became trapped by a roller inside the machine, according to police. It is currently unknown how his head became caught.
Oullette was later found about 20 to 30 minutes later by a co-worker, police said.
Lewis County Search and Rescue transported Oullette from the scene to Lewis County General Hospital and was later transported to Upstate University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
An investigation of the incident is ongoing.
