A Lewis County teen was arrested Wednesday after police say a child under his care was found wandering in the street.
According to the Lewis County Sheriffâ??s Office, around 7:30 a.m. deputies received a call reporting a child walking in the middle of Pine Grove Road in Watson. Police say a passing driver stopped and kept the child, a three year old boy, safe until a deputy arrived.
Police arrested 18-year-old Kyle T. Simpson of Pine Grove Road and charged him with endangering the welfare of a child. Simpson was reportedly looking after the boy when he walked off. Police say the boy walked out of his familyâ??s home nearby, and the deputy stayed with the boy for about 40 minutes until Simpson arrived looking for him.
Simpson was ticketed and is scheduled to appear in Watson Town Court. Police Lewis County Child Protective Services is assisting with the investigation.
