Liverpool CS honors Lori Bresnahan with creation of 'Bresnahan Book Award'

Lori Bresnahan

The Liverpool Central School District will celebrate the life of Lori Bresnahan during a special event on Friday, May 2 at the Barnes and Noble book store on Route 31.

The LCSD library media group will present the inaugural Bresnahan Book Award at the event. The award works like this: kindergarten through sixth grazed students read 10 childrenâ??s books that were nominees for the 2014 Charlotte Book Award and then voted on their favorite. The book with the most votes will receive the Bresnahan Book Award.
â??Lori taught in many of the LCSD schools and was known for her love of literature and her joy of sharing books with children,â?? said Soule Road Elementary library media specialist Kay Budmen. â??This award was created by the district librarians to honor her and her work.â??

Students from across the Liverpool School District were involved in the creation and implementation of the award. Middle school students helped design the award, and high school students helped create the online voting system.

The public is welcome to join the district and its library media specialists for the ceremony and the unveiling of the winning book.

Bresnahan was murdered by David Renz in Clay last March.
