Liverpool High marching band bringing Sandy donations to competition in New Jersey

Liverpool's High School marching band, The Marching Warriors, have been collecting donations of non-perishable food items to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

They will drop off the donations during a trip to the New Jersey and New York City area where they will be competing in the US Bands Grand National Championships.

The team was originally supposed to stay in a hotel in the city, but gave the rooms to Sandy victims. They will now be staying in a hotel in Allentown, PA. Despite a change in plans, they are in great spirits and happy to help their downstate neighbors.

All non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at Liverpool High School, Chestnut Hill Middle, Liverpool Middle or Soule Road Middle through the end of the school day on Thursday November 8.

Other items they are collecting include flashlights, batteries, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, baby food, diapers and pet food.

Monetary donations also are being accepted. You may donate online to the salvation army or checks can be made out to The Salvation Army and dropped off at LHS, CHMS, LMS or SRM in care of the band directors from each school by Thursday afternoon.
