Loaded handgun found after Syracuse man runs from police

A Syracuse man is arrested for felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon after a complaint of a suspicious person.

Syracuse Police responded to the 100 block of Fitch St. just after 6:30 a.m Sunday night when 911 received a complaint about a suspicious person with a weapon.

Police found a man fitting the description of the suspect when they arrived, but the man ran away when they approached him.

Police pursued the man, who discarded a handgun before being taken into custody. They recovered the handgun, which was a loaded 9mm semi-automatic.

The suspect is identified as 20-year-old Nathan Williams of 3185 Bellevue Ave. in Syracuse.

He was sent to jail and is scheduled to be arrainged in Syracuse City Criminal Court Monday.

No one was injured in the incident.
