T he fight against child abuse was front and center today in Liverpool where one local organization celebrated 15 years of prevention and intervention for victims.
McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Center held the first-ever "Kick-off for Kids" event on Friday. The Tailgate style fundraiser featured games, entertainment, and bite-sized snacks in support of their ongoing efforts to prevent child abuse and help victims.
"We've come a long way in fifteen years," said Linda Cleary, Executive Director of McMahon/Ryan. "Certainly far more recognition about child abuse. Lots more prevention. And we certainly hope that the more people are aware of it, and the more people know what to do to prevent it...that the numbers will continue to go down."
In 20011, the center relocated to its current East Genesee street facility, where more that 60 professionals from multiple agencies work together to fight child abuse.
