Local group donates more than 100k diapers to help families
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
It's a big donation helping families with young children in need.
The CNY Diaper Bank was chosen by 100 Women Who Care, a Central New York group, to receive $10,000. That donation, in addition to $2,500 from Romano Toyota and the Romano Auto Dealerships’ Holiday Hope Project, was turned into the organization's largest shipment ever: 107,000 diapers.
"We are distributing about 30,000 diapers a month — so the number of diapers we're receiving is going to make a really large dent in our need," said Michela Hugo, founder of CNY Diaper Bank.
The CNY Diaper Bank was created in May 2016. Since then, the group has given more than 330,000 diapers to 15 local agencies.
