Local group set to perform at JazzFest

JazzFest, at Jamesville Beach, will feature local gospel jazz group Five to Life. Check the video for a preview.

JazzFest's headliners are national acts, but there's a lot of quality music coming from local musicians, too, including a Syracuse group that developed a unique vocal style.

Five to Life has been singing for 21 years, and some of the original members are still with the men's gospel group. They sing gospel, with jazz, and the group clearly works as a team, improvising as they go---it makes for easy listening.

They joined us for Weekend Today in CNY on Sunday morning, for a preview of their Syracuse JazzFest appearance on Saturday night, 5pm. To hear their style, click the video, and see more about the group at

JazzFest, at Jamesville Beach, starts Thursday afternoon (July 4th) and runs til Saturday, with free admission, wall to wall music, including national headliners, and fireworks on the 4th at 11pm.
