Man and woman arrested for Syracuse strong arm robbery
The Syracuse Police says it has arrested a man and a woman for a strong arm robbery that happened on Butternut Street on Thursday morning.
At about 10:55 on Thursday morning, police say that they responded to the 800 block of Butternut Street due to a reported robbery.
When police arrived, they say that they found a 16-year-old woman who told them that she was walking on the 100 block of Grumbach Avenue when she was attacked by a man and woman. She told police that the suspects stole her cell phone and headphones.
The victim gave police a description of the suspects and they began checking the area.
A short time later, Syracuse Police Captain John Brennan saw two people walking down Mary Street near Park Street that matched the description of the suspects.
According to police, the two people were detained and an investigation showed that they were the suspects that had robbed the victim.
The suspects are being identified as 18-year-old Antonio Vallejo of 800 Pond Street and 17-year-old Ashley Jimenez of 124 Jasper Street in Syracuse. Both were charged with robbery in the second degree and sent to the Justice Center.
They are scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Syracuse City Court.
The proceeds from the robbery were recovered by police and the victim did not seek medical attention.
