Man arrested after he robbed a Rome woman over a year and a half ago
Rome Police Department made an arrest on Saturday morning regarding a robbery that took place on January 28, 2016.
Curtis A. Thompson, 19, was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree and Assault in the Second Degree, police said.
On January 28, 2016, a 79-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle in the Black River Shopping Center parking lot, when Thompson ran up behind her and attempted to grab her purse, according to police.
The woman was knocked down during the incident but never let go of her purse, police said. She suffered several injuries from the incident but has since recovered.
According to police, Thompson fled the area on foot after he was unable to take any of the victim’s property.
Rome Police were able to identify Thompson after a positive DNA test from clothing recovered immediately following the robbery.
Thompson is currently being held at the Rome Police Department awaiting arraignment.
