Man arrested in connection to string of arson cases

According to New York Police, a string of arson cases has been solved following the arrest of Matthew Card, 24, of Plattsburgh. Detectives say Matthew Card admitted to setting more than 17 fires over the past few years when they arrested him, including four on Easter morning 2006. He was arraigned on felony arson charges Friday in Plattsburgh City Court, where he requested to have a court-appointed attorney assigned to his case. Police believe Card's alleged arson spree began on Easter in 2006, when they say he set fire to a car, a garage, a couch and garbage cans in different spots around the city. They say he continued his crimes over the years by setting a number of other fires. Card is being held in the Clinton County Jail on $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.
