Authorities say a central New York man faces charges after he barricaded himself in a home and set it on fire before police stormed the house and took him into custody.
Police tell local media outlets that the incident began when authorities were contacted Tuesday afternoon by a family member who said the man was threatening to burn down a house in the Yates County village of Penn Yan, in the Finger Lakes region 45 miles southeast of Rochester.
Officials say the man broke windows and yelled at police before officers rammed down a door, entered the house and restrained the man, who was taken to a local hospital.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
The man's name and details of the charges he faces haven't been released by Penn Yan police.
