Man charged after fleeing police regarding reports of shots fired Friday night

A man was charged after fleeing police regarding reports of shots fired on Friday night, according to Syracuse Police.

Waldemar Colon, 42, was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the third degree, Reckless Driving and other vehicle and traffic law infractions, police said.

Syracuse Police originally responded to the 1000 block of Montgomery Street around 8:09 p.m. Friday regarding a shots fired report.

A blue Ford Mustang was seen leaving the area at a high speed running a red light, police said.

The Mustang refused to pull over, and a police chase ensued until the Mustang stopped on South Warren Street, according to police.

The two occupants of the car then fled on foot and were later located by police after a short foot pursuit, police said.

Police said the passenger was questioned and released.

According to Syracuse Police, the shots fired complaint remains under investigation at this time.
