A Waterloo man has been charged with DWI after hitting a police when he crossed the center line.
Seneca County Sheriffs say Josef Ufholz, 71, crossed the center line of Geneva Road in Waterloo and attempted to make a left hand turn in front of a Waterloo Police car. The officer was taken to Geneva General Hospital for a minor head injury. A college intern was on a ride along program with the officer but was not injured in the crash.
Ufholz was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, DWI Operating with .08 of 1% or more, and failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn. He was arraigned in Town of Waterloo court and was committed to the Seneca County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
