A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his parents inside their home in the Town of Laurens, according to Otsego County Sheriff's office.

Kevin Perry, 23 was arrested and charged with Murder in the First Degree and Criminal Use of a Firearm First Degree. Perry was arraigned in the Town of Oneonta Court and sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility with no bail.

Deputies and New York State Police were dispatched to the home at 400 New Road on Tuesday at 8:49 p.m. for a report of two possibly dead individuals, deputies said. The call was placed by the daughter of the victims after she returned home and also noted a missing vehicle.

Authorities issued a statewide notification to be on the lookout for the missing vehicle, and it was later located by the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office traveling on I-88 in Schoharie County.

Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over, but were led on a pursuit resulting in the suspect crashing his vehicle and later being detained, deputies said.

An investigation revealed that the victims Timothy Perry, 59 and Solveig Perry, 52, died from injuries sustained from a firearm. Authorities believe Perry shot his parents with a shotgun.

The Investigation is continuing by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, and the Otsego County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the double murder.

This case has been assigned to Otsego County Coroner Knapp.
